I have a Pioneer DV-610AV DVD player I purchased from dvdoverseas.com. The problem seems to be with the HDMI signal which suddenly stops, the screen goes black, and then the HDMI video & audio options are grayed out in the menu. I've swapped cables & tried different HDMI inputs on my TV with no real effect other than it will start working again, then stop.

It seems that SOMETIMES nudging the cable around the DVD's HDMI output will make the signal drop, but I can't do it with any consistency. I've stopped buying from this vendor because I've had similar problems with their Region-Free units not lasting more than a couple of years.
As an aside, I do not have this problem at all when hooking up the DVD player via component cables--only with HDMI.

Any ideas or insights to the problem? I hate to just dispose of this unit (nice DVD-only players are hard to come by any more).

    Thanks!

  2. You might need to update the firmware!
If I remember right that issue was taken care of in an firmware update.
