  1. I'm looking for a tool that allows me to edit idx/sub files and save them in the same format.

The subs are part of a 720p bluray rip. The problem is half of the subs of the episodes have a transparent background, and half of them have a black background.

I would like to edit the files so all subs have a transparent background.

I can open the sub file in Subtitle Edit and turn on the transparency, but the problem is I can't save it in the same format. When I chose to save it as a .sub file (there are several, I tried DVD format) the subs don't load anymore.

Is there a way to save this type in Subtitle Edit, or is there another tool that can edit transparency on these files?

  2. Looks like I was able to achieve this with BDsup2sub

I still need to test this at home

You can use Subtitle Edit and import to bring in, OCR and edit and then export to IDX/SUB again.

install subtitle edit or use the portable version. Use file import sub/idx and it will load the subs. Convert by ocr'ing. Edit it main page and choose export to sub/idx vob subs.
