Good morning:
I have been struggling with this for quite a while and must seek advice from experts. I am quite happy with the quality of the HD videos I've downloaded from Youtube, using ClipConverter.cc, when played back on my TV. (clip "1 Source").
However sometimes I'd like to keep only portion of them. The methods I've used gave me the following results:
1) Using Streaming Video Recorder or Debut Video Capture to record the desired portion, the resulting video is always a little "jerky"- not much but noticeable - no matter if I used 24frs, 29.4frs, 30frs; and 15,000Kbps, 20,000Kbps, or even 50,000 Kbps. Furthermore the result file is almost twice as big. (clip ' 2 Recorder, 50k Kbps, 30frs')
2) Using An editor like Cyberlink Power Director. I use settings' dvd HQ', which to me is the optimum video quality without resulting in too big a file(HDV Mpeg-2 or HD Mpeg-2 1080i), or poor quality (Mpeg-4, best quality psp). However, even with dvd HQ and 5 seconds trimmed off the source the resulting file is still almost 3 times bigger than the original. (clip 3 Director, dvdHQ)
Is there any way I can keep the quality of the result as close as possible to the source without increasing the file size too much?
Thank you for your help.
Sid

clipconverter.cc can download a section of video in the first place
If you're trying to cut an already downloaded clip, don't re-encode, you will lose quality. Cut by using stream copy (no quality loss)
Use something like avidemux (video=>copy, audio=>copy, format=>mp4) to cut it, which is keyframe accurate (you have to cut on keyframes by making sure you navigate by the << and >> buttons before you mark in/ out, not frame accurate), or use a smart rendering editor like videoredo, tmpgenc smart renderer or solveigmm video splitter -
Sidug, please do not double post. I've deleted the other topic. If you want to move a topic to another forum, PM a Mod.

Hi Poisondeathray:
"...clipconverter.cc can download a section of video in the first place..."
Thank you so much for the reply. Downloading sections of video with clipconverter.cc would be perfect. However I've looked carefully but couldn't find out how I can do that...I must be blind! Can you guide me?
Thanks!!!
