Does the source have video? What codec is the source?

Apple QuickTime later focused on other compression formats and moved Sorenson Video 3 to a separate group called "legacy encoders". According to an anonymous developer of FFmpeg, reverse engineering of the SVQ3 codec (Sorenson Video 3) revealed it as a tweaked version of H.264. The same developer added support for this codec to FFmpeg. FFmpeg supports decoding of "Sorenson Vector Quantizer 3" (fourcc SVQ3) and Sorenson Vector Quantizer 1 (fourcc SVQ1) starting with version 0.4.7, released in 2003.

Sorenson Video 3 comes with Sorenson Squeeze.[14]

Let's make sure we're on the same page: what does MediaInfo say it has?

When you say no video, do you mean it just shows up as an audio track timeline? or is it all BLACK? or all WHITE? or does it freeze or what?

Do you have the Sorenson v3 codec component installed? (maybe yours wasn't a full install or was a corrupted install - it should be installed by default, even with minimal/core installs)

  4. Hey ndjamena,

I really don't know much about video. I gave you all the information that I know. The .mov file should have video. Thanks for doing the lookup, but I'm not sure what it's suppose to mean.

So it's not actually your file then. And you know nothing about it.

Listen to Scott then, I can't add anything to that.

"ALL BLACK" does NOT mean no video. It means either no (correct) decoder, or the file is corrupted. Or the file is one of an all-black scene (lens cap still on, etc).

Only way to truly tell would be to post a short segment of it (10-15 sec), and then we could evaluate with other tools/devices. This (creating a segment) can be done quite easily, without re-encoding, using QT Pro.
