  2. There are dozens of tutorials on youtube. The best software for this (and best is a word usuually tossed around too freely) is After Effects (plus Photoshop) which are available from Adobe.com on a monthly subscription.

There is a lot of hand work involved. Nothing will do this automatically.

You can easily do this with free tools also. There are two basic parts:

    1) Use an image editor to separate the image into 2 or more layers. Gimp is a good free alternative do this. This will be the most difficult part.

    2) Animate the layers. Aviutl and blender are two very good free alternatives. Very easy to do.

Here's an example I did some time ago. The source was a still image:

    That's not 3D. It's 2.5D. AKA "Card Animation".

Each element has to be cut out by hand and saved as a 4 channel file (32 Bit), the 4th channel being transparent alpha. The PNG format works best.

The way you do it is put each element on its own track and keyframe the motion.

I used Aviutl to animate the layers, make snow effect and add solar flare. The image was split into two layers - foreground and background.

I don't have premiere or after effects, but any multi-track editor should work.

Amazing work racer-x! How did u go by separating one image into 2 to make it 3D looking? I don't mean the technical aspect in photoshop etc.

Was your original image something like the close-in view? And then you cut out some background details to make the foreground image. And then
as u zoom in, u reveal the background image details?? Tks!

Oh... I watched it a few times and I hv noticed that u have duplicated some details from the foreground image and pasted that into the background image. Vy nicely done. tks!

Well if you want to know how I did it, here are the project file. Just unpack and open the project in Aviutl. I did that one a long time ago and can't remember all the details....

The original image is there along with the separated layers.

Wow! Amazing! Thanks Racer for sharing your wealth of knowledge!
Don't understand it fully but at least now I hv a template. I really hv to learn more about camera control...

Both of your images are static without any panning or zoom by itself. The camera control does all the magic!! Wow!
This is an eye-opener! The project file really helps in the learning process. Thanks Racer once again!
