In still picture, I know that I can apply HDR or fill flash approach to balance strong light coming through restaurant's big windows while subject was sitting indoor next to the window.
What about in video ? I was taping people having breakfast in kitchen beside a big windows facing a lake in the morning. Exposure on their faces was correct. But when I zoom out, the scenic outside the window was all washed out.
Anything I can do in the shooting or editing stage that I can balance the extreme lighting situation ? I'm using Adobe Premiere Elements 12.
Thanks.

You can try the shadow/highlight effect under color correction.
The proper way to do this, while shooting, is to use ND netting on the window and/or add a lot of fill light to the foreground. If bringing a lot of lighting gear and a crew with you are not practical, you may want to consider shooting it a different way. The shot you imagine may be impossible. -
Thanks for the tips.
It's a family video, just doing my best to correct the problem, with limited resource.
