    Hi all,

I have old video taken with Song Video 8 Handycam CCD-F380E
    photo - sony_video8.JPG
(I hope the handycam still working)

Is there any any way converting the PAL video to digital? If YES, please advise HOW. Pointers would be appreciated.

Sony PlayMemories Home is FREE but for Windows.
Freeware which enables photos and videos to be easily managed and edited on PC.

Are there similar application on Open Source for Linux?

    Thanks

    Regards

Better connect it to the power adapter and not the battery.

Yes. Using a video capture device that you connect your Handycam to, or if you buy a second-hand Digital8 model that allows outputting a compressed version of your tapes in DV format.

I have faith that if you know enough about Linux to be using it, you know how to find photo viewing and video editing software for it.

I get the feeling you conducted zero research and want all answers spoonfed.
