    Hi,

I used Microsoft's Movie Maker to make a video (*.mp4 file format). It is over an hour long. I just tried to transfer it to a tablet and the video properties show that it is 24 seconds long. When I try to play it, the video runs for 24 seconds and then stops, but the audio continues. If I play the video on my computer it runs for the actual, full duration of the video. Any suggestions as to what I could try?

Thank you in advance for any suggestions!

  2. More information needed.
Make and model of tablet, and the operating system would be nice.
Which player are you using to play it on the tablet?

Change your thread title to 'Video won't play on my Tablet' or something equally descriptive.
Most people on here need help but anything marked 'Help!?!' won't get much.

    Thanks, transporterfan!

It is a cheap tablet that I got specifically to put the video on to give away. Manufacturer is Digix. Model is TAB-840. Operating system is Android Jelly Bean. I tried the default player and then downloaded MX Player. Both show that the video is 24 seconds long despite the fact that the audio runs well beyond that when I try to play it. The video simply stops, but the audio continues.

  4. I couldn't find anything but 98% bad reviews on that device. You would be better off with a chalk stick and a piece of slate! (joke).
Faults aside, what formats does the manual say the default player supports?

    Thanks again for your assistance!

There's a reason it was inexpensive, I suppose! Not certain what the default player supports, but it did recognize the mp4 format...

What does MediaInfo say about the file? You'll have to examine it on the computer, not the tablet.

You might try Dice Player on the tablet. It is free to use. I've seen it play some videos on a tablet that MX Player would not, but I don't have very high hopes. The hardware on a cheap tablet may just not have enough oomph to play this file.

  8. Keryy56 is quite right. Let's see what kind of file you made with Movie Maker.
Use Mediainfo - View->Text. Post that report on here so we can see what you're working with.

vlc is a good choice, as suggested.

EDIT: If all else here fails, you could always upload to a Youtube/Vimeo private account and play through a browser (access dependent, granted). Make a shortcut on the desktop.
