I don't know if it's DRM or not. Not even VLC can play it. It's 500mb in size.

    Any ideas?

Install MediaInfo and open the file with that and post those results here. What you've posted above is useless. Maybe that "40D" reference is meaningful to you, but that's not useful to me either, so if you think that might be important, you should definitely explain that one better.

I would swear that I already replied to this thread. The heat must be taking it's toil.

    4OD = 4 as in UK Channel4 On-Demand. A streaming service like the BBC i-player.

I ask what was used to download and the original url.

Ch4 could well have changed their system. The last time I downloaded from there, I had no issues.

I then downloaded their introduction video and I put it into mediainfo. This is what I got.

I think the video I am trying to watch is encrypted but the introduction isn't.

I used StreamTransport. What did you use?

I think I used hi-download at that time. Now I use tube-digger or jaksta.

I can confirm that the content is protected as jaksta acknowledged that and refused to download.

Tube-digger grabs the ads but did not see the main video.

Most, if not all, programs will cough when they see protected content. Your only resort then is to do screen capture.

Can you recommend any good screen capture software?

    Look here:

    https://www.videohelp.com/tools/sections/desktop-screen-capture

Jaksta also does screen-capture (offers that when it can not download) but I have never had the need to use it.

One not mentioned in the above list is Replay Video Capture. I have used that successfully in the past as well.

Applian also do a web stream recorder but that will also fail with protected content.

The only one that has worked so far is Jaksta. It works in iPlayer better than 4oD.
It can download streams from iPlayer no problem.

4oD is encrypted and there is no way to do it. The best alternative is to record the screen using Jaksta.
However, if you have a lot to record and you want to use the web, it's going to take most of your time
and you will not be able to browse or do anything while it's recording the screen.

I got a second monitor with the same screen resolution as my main monitor. Use the
second monitor to do all your recording while you browse the web on the main monitor or vice versa.

Screen capture works great with Jaksta on 4oD. If there are better ones I would love to know.

    Hope that helps.
