  1. Hi I need some help on what codec I should use to capture a video thats in 1080i.
    I have a black magic intensity pro and I'm using virtualdub to capture the video, but
    I don't whats the best codec for compression? Here are my options

    If any other codec is better plz let me know. I want a lossless compression

  2. Set the capture format to YUY2 or UYVY. Then use UtVideo YUV 4:2:2 BT.709. Later when your editing or recompressing be sure to tell the software your video is interlaced.

    Virtual dub do not know bt 709 colors!!! It is just a bt 601 editor.

    As long as you don't do anything that causes the video to be converted to RGB in VirtualDub it doesn't matter. So, capturing HD as YUY2, save as YUY2+UT, gives you rec.709 colors.
