  1. I'm trying to install these to use with the 32-bit Virtual Dub on a 64-bit Windows 8 OS...

It also happens when I tried to install the LAME ACM Codec

This is what shows up on the screen, I'm sure the .inf/.acm file is there, but it keeps on saying that it is "missing". I really appreciate it if anyone can help me

  2. thanks so much for replying...I really appreciate it

So I tried to follow the instruction in that thread. Installation was fine I guess, but the codec still did not show up in VirtualDub. I searched around and saw a couple of instructions where people instructed to enable the codecs in Control Panel, but I guess that was for the older Windows operating system? because Windows 8 just does not seem to have any "Audio Codec" option (in the Sound, Game controller in the CP)

Please define "the codec still do not show up in VirtualDub".

In the Audio menu, enable "Full processing mode", then goto "Compression".
AAC ACM should be the 2nd item on that list --- or not

AAC ACM is a decoder , not encoder - so it shouldn't show up on the list

Note: Currently this codec can only decode AAC, it cannot encode AAC!

If you want to encode AAC audio in vdub, you can use the vdub external encoder feature with another exe like neroaac or ffmpeg
