  1. Hello.

    The bbc.co.uk website stores very interesting and well crafted language video lessons.
    The lessons are made in Flash and watchable only with the use of a player provided by the bbc website. Any link for any lesson starts up the player and the built-in lesson.

    Here is a link for bbc spanish lessons:

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/languages/spanish/mividaloca/

    Once the lesson is loaded in the player is watchable also offline, so I guess somewhere in the file system there should be a temp file that can be stored and used any time, but I am unable to find that file.

    I would like to save these lessons, player or its functions included, but I do not know how to do it. Is that possible?

    Many thanks in advance for your help.

  2. Hi ,

    @Fangorn :

    Your ask is too wide , and NOT EASY to answer because these are interactiv videos .
    Code:
    === Page for episodes
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/languages/spanish/mividaloca/ep01.shtml
    ... to ...
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/languages/spanish/mividaloca/ep22.shtml
    ... and ...
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/languages/spanish/mividaloca/syllabus.shtml
    ===
    === page in witch you can get names for files .flv , .mp3
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/languages/spanish/mividaloca/ep01/episode.xml
    ... to ...
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/languages/spanish/mividaloca/ep22/episode.xml
    ===

    Example for the video "ep01_c01_vid1.flv" given during the "ep01"

    Create a link using :
    http://downloads.bbc.co.uk/languages/spanish/beginners/bb/ep01/
    +
    ep01_c01_vid1.flv
    for getting
    http://downloads.bbc.co.uk/languages/spanish/beginners/bb/ep01/ep01_c01_vid1.flv
    Regards .

    I was not aware that .FLV format supported interactive elements in the way their former .SWF format did, but I guess I am not surprised.

    Best thing to try is doing a screencap while running the interactivity.

    I agree , but what a job !!!

    He could call "BBC services" , and buy the DVD .

  5. Thanks aazerty,

    I already thought of buying the DVD as last chance.
    First I would try to follow your first instructions. The problem is that my dns server (Comodo) recognises downloads.bbc.co.uk as an unsafe website with the following warning:

    Warning: Unsafe Website Blocked!
    downloads.bbc.co.uk
    This website has been blocked temporarily because of the following reason(s):
    Malware: Site may contain content that is harmful, illegal, or malicious to your computer

    What do you think about it?
    I think it is more probable that Comodo wants to protect the bbc website rather than my computer.
    This is problably OT though

  6. Hi ,

    I think , as the video is "interactiv" , many informations come in/out .
    That's why comodo blocks this site .
    Tell it to accept .

    That's my answer , maybe i am wrong . AVG didn't said anything about BBC's site .

    Regards .

    It is the BBC for goodness' sake!

    Your Comodo is being too temperamental. Fix it.

    "Buy the DVD"

    Now that would be clever since NO dvd exists. Someone ought to read the site before making such wild suggestions.

    The video download is just a small segment (50 secs) of the full episode. And of little use since it is just the underlying video without the interactive elements.

    BBC uses an interactive player similar to their own i-player. This is an adobe player and all the interactive elements are not downloadable.

    There is no security risk. The day the BBC website gets compromised we can all turn the internet off.
