I have a 1hour 45 minute video file(AVI) that is full of 7-7:30 minute videos. I would like to cut this file into its constituent parts, but I don't know what I am looking for. I would like to find something that would let me manually jump ahead and cut at ambiguous points of the file then save them in mpeg4 or mpg files. What is this piece of software called? Can u recommend a freeware piece of software that allows me to do this? Thankyou John

  2. Try VirtualDub. Use Video -> Direct Stream Copy mode. Mark-in, mark-out, Save. Repeat for each clip. That will give you a bunch of AVI clips.

Does that allow you to skip ahead in the clip and cut then go ahead and cut again and so forth, then allows you to save the clips? John
