  1. Hi,
can somebody tell me specs of Displayport with the different Revisions like 1.1, 1.1a, 1.2, 1.2a? I need to know supportet resolutions and refresh rate of each Revision.
I haven't found what I need, only posts in other forums and everyone said something different there.

    Thanks

  2. I think the reason you are having trouble is because the spec doesn't delineate resolutions and refresh rates, just the total bandwidth.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Displayport

    You can approximate bandwidth by

    Code:
    width * height * refresh_rate * bits_per_pixel * 1.1
The final 1.1 is to account for vertical refresh, front and back porch, etc. So for 1920x1080, 60 Hz, 8 bit RGB:

    Code:
    1920 * 1080 * 60 * 24 * 1.1 ~= 3.3 Gb/s
Of course, devices will not support all possible combinations.

  3. Thanks jagabo, that helped me a lot.

    For UHD (3840 x 2160):
    3840 x 2160 x 60 x 24 x 1,1 ~= 13,2Gb/s

Do you know the difference between 1.2 and 1.2a?
I read a review of a 4K TV (should be called UHD, 4K is 4096x2304) and they talked about Displayport 1.2a.

    Hi

I am using Panasonic TV 50AX802B and driving with miniDP port (capable of driving upto 2160p60). Unfortunately in SST mode of DP on TV i am able to get only 4K30 and with MST mode the TV shows 4K60 but with two distinct windows (driven from PC) each with resolution of 1920x2160.

    Can someone help?

    regards
    KP
