  1. I have an avi file that has a subtitles track that I visualize with videolan player. I'd like to produce an avi file with the subtitles visible as such with no need to select the track from vlc menu. This way I could embed the video in my blog and people will always see the subs.

    The only way to absolutely force them to show as you wish with no user action is to re-encode your video with hard subtitles so that they are part of the video itself and thus always "on". Xvid4PSP would be my recommended program to use for this task.
