I am looking for a free download manager that breaks the download into pieces for faster downloading. It should be able to download standard http urls. If possible, it should also be able to download rtmp urls.
I have a question: I put a http url in Firefox and tried to download it and it said it would take over 3 days to download it. (See screenshot.) The same download url I put into Internet Download Manager ( not free ) and it took 10 minutes to download the whole thing. My question is, why is there such a big difference in download time?
Here is the http url that I tried to download (pbs video):

Try StreamFab Downloader and download from Netflix, Amazon, Youtube! Or Try DVDFab and copy Blu-rays! or rip iTunes movies!

For http maybe flashget, orbit ? orbit supports rtmp as well. But beware the newer versions have adware and are more bloated. Old versions of flashget are very lightweight (maybe a few MB in memory), but might not integrate with newer browsers very well
jdownloader as well - but it's very resource heavy and bloated because it's java based
There is definitely something else going on if IDM took 10 minutes , and firefox takes 3 days. It cannot be explained by the simultaneous connections/multiple download theory unless you have 432 connections (I think IDM only supports 32). I would try again with firefox, maybe there was some temporary bandwith issue with their server.
