  1. I can't get any media player on my computer to open this MKV file i downloaded. I know there is nothing wrong with the file because i downloaded it from a public site and noone else has reported any kind of problems.

The file finished on Jdownloader and upon finished had another file next to it that ended in mkv.decrypted. This is the file that has the video files information, the video file gives me no such info.

Is this a codec issue? Do these files need to be merged? Any help would be appreciated.

You didn't say if you tried to use VLC player for playback or MediaInfo to see what specifications the file has. If neither work, I would assume the file is corrupted and you should try another download. And your file details doesn't seem to list the format of the video.

    And welcome to our forums.

I copy and pasted everything under Media info, it's definitely an MKV. I used Everything from VLC to MPC and nothing worked. I got no error messages at all, the file just never begins playing.

edit* Sorry i left off the top portion of the Media Info. I just added it!

The mediainfo report displays no codec. The video bitrate is spectacularly low, so there may be no video.

That mediainfo was taken from a file called Cinderella.mkv.decrypted that randomly appeared when my download finished.

The Actual 4.45 Gig video file has this under mediainfo

    Cinderella.mkv

Either that's NOT a Matroska file, or it was corrupted during the file transfer process.

Yes, it's definitely an mkv. But 'mkv' is just a container.

As srmpix mentioned, there is no video codec ID listed in the video part of the mediainfo output.

If you don't know the difference, don't get pissy about it.

There's something fishy about that file.

  8. Here is the links i used

Everybody else on the site i use has downloaded this just fine. I guess something happened when Jdownloader extracted the files?

  9. I went under Mediainfo when trying to play the file on VLC and the codecs i see listed are

    MPEG- 1/2 video (mpgv)

    MPEG Audio layer 1/2/3 (mpga)

  10. This can't be legal.
