Potplayer please help configure Pc audio and hdmi

I am new to this forum and also to pot player.I have the latest version of potplayer installed , I can get it to pass audio over hdmi to my amplifier by selecting pass through. but the question is when I am not using the external amp and hdmi how do I get pot player to default playback on the pc speaker. When the hdmi is offline the audio is muted on the pc speaker.How do I get it go on the pc speaker when I switch hdmi off. I have used vlc before and it never was an issue. It just defaulted to the pc whenever I switched hdmi off.Thanks
