    Hi

I had two OS folders in my C: drive: WINDOWS and WINDOWS.0 (both WinXP), and booting was possible from either by choosing from booting preference menu. Since the second folder was more recent, that is the first boot choice.

Now the WINDOWS.0 folder has been deleted manually, so now the first boot choice is invalid and the machine stalls if the second one is not selected before the timeout. This is a nuisance.

How can I remove this first boot choice from the booting screen in simple uncomplicated steps ?

    Thanks.

  2. Edit the BOOT.INI file in the root of drive C: and change the default.

Control Panel - System & Security - Admin Tools - System Config - Boot Tab
You should be able to delete the second entry here.

There are many ways to measure success. You just have to find your own yardstick.
