  1. Hello

I have a problem, can you help me please ?

normally I had my subtitles to HD 1080p videos with freemake video converter, but I have a problem with a video with black bars , The subtiles when i put subtitles files with freemake are on the image and not on the down black bar : http://fr.tinypic.com/view.php?pic=e9d92h&...=8#.UwoJufk6F8E

So I've tried to find a solution , I've converted my mp4 video to avi (in 1080p) , and put it on avi in virtualdub , but when I try to put subtiles with textsub, the subtitles not appears to my video & I noticed equally that there isn't a screen of the video exit at right : http://fr.tinypic.com/view.php?pic=zu5kp3&...=8#.UwzeLPk6F8G

Is this a problem of a video or codecs formats ? because when i put others videos who aren't in 1080 p in virtualdub there is two screen in left & in right !

    Thanks for your help

  2. Can you use a subtitle format (SSA or ASS) that allows for vertical positioning?

When I click on your picture links I see a whole bunch of pictures, none of what you're trying to show.

  3. This is the pictures :

subtitles who are not on the black bars when I add subtitles files to mp4 with freeamke : http://oi60.tinypic.com/e9d92h.jpg

No right screen in virtualdub with avi 1080p video : http://oi58.tinypic.com/zu5kp3.jpg

I've tried with ssa and that don' t work

I think that the problem is the format of the video because when I've tried to put the same subtiles to a breaking bad episode who is not in 1080p in virtualdub that works and there is the the right & left screens video !

I Have equally with the 1080p video the same message avi variable bitrate : http://i53.tinypic.com/23w2yrr.png

Subtitles are added to the video output of the player, not the black bars. Most players add the subs x number of pixels up from the bottom of the image (ie: the source video image). The black bars are not part of the video output (ie: video output of from the source file).

If you reencode the video and add the black bars to the video, then they should display in the black bar area.

And I seem to recall this issue has come up before, and one of the media players can be configured to function like you want. But I don't recall which player will do that, or if I am even remembering correctly.

No, the problem is just as Krispy Kritter explained. Your video is not 1920x1080. What resolution is it? Add bars to it above and below (first) to make 1920x1080 and then you can add the subs down in the black.

  8. The picture in the link:

    http://oi58.tinypic.com/zu5kp3.jpg

doesn't seem to have black bars and doesn't seem to be 1920x1080. It looks to me like the black bars have been cropped away. Is it the same video? Anyway, if it really is 1920x1080 then there's some other reason you're not getting subs, but since I don't do things that way (use VDub filters/subtitles) I don't know what it is. Maybe someone else can help.

Because the left pane is bigger than your desktop. Right click on the left pane (the one you can see) and make it smaller -- say, 50 percent. Then you'll see the right pane -- but only part of it because it's also too big. Right click on it and make it smaller too.

  10. I Finally found why with freemake the subtitles wasn't on the black bar , There was an option that I've accepted and now deactivate who deleted the black bars in the conversion for put the subtitles, and now when i put with freemake the subtitles to my video ,they are in the down black bar ! So I don't I don't any more need to solve the problem of virtualdub!

Its curious because the black bars was still in windows media but not in virtualdub like you said (I wasn't paying attention)
Thanks to have tried to help me !
