Menu frustration with Ulead video editing software

I'm hoping for some advice regarding the Menu editing part of Ulead video editing software. When I go to configure and set up a menu for my own videos there is already an 'object' - usually the default of a hand holding a clipboard - which I want to remove and use my own picture. I can usually replace the background with my own image but the wretched object stays in the forefront and I struggle to remove it. Is there any way of setting Ulead so that it comes up with a less troublesome default menu. Even a blank page would be preferable.
