I am going going to buy some DVDs, and they are concert DVDs, and yes, these DVDs contains the audio tracks. Some of these soundtracks are out of print, and Amazon has them all except the second out of four, but it would save money to buy the DVDs and rip the audio tracks from them. I did not buy them yet. This is what I would like to do. Look at the wikipedia website and look at the track listing for the soundtrack and rip the exact tracks from the DVD. Would this be possible and how to do it? I don't have a clue what to do or what to look for with the waveform, so are there tools that would rip/extract the exact tracks from the DVD automatically?
Here is the link to the first part only but there are 4 DVDs in a set: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00CEU44UG?cache=f0be0c84a6a56b314d62664d5da25abc#ref=mp...2490158&sr=8-2
Try StreamFab Downloader and download from Netflix, Amazon, Youtube! Or Try DVDFab and copy Blu-rays! or rip iTunes movies!

99% of the time each song is a "chapter". Since you mention the word "split" I can only assume that you want to rip the DVD, audio only, to individual songs(chapters). You can TRY to pick only certain songs/chapters with DVDDecrypter as well. You'll also need to enable Stream Processing to take ONLY the audio....leaving the video behind.
-
OK, thank you! Will splitting it by chapter split all the songs? And do I still need stream processing?
-
If the DVD was authored that way....yes. 99% of the time they are.
If you want just the audio....yes. The audio will be 48K. You will need to convert it to 44.1 if you plan on making a CD of the songs. Easy to do with free audio editors like Audacity(one of many examples). If the audio is 5.1 that is another hurdle to cross. -
Practice on another concert DVD. It's fun and not all that difficult.
-
I got another concert DVD, and I ripped it and there are 15 chapters and they are all VOB files. Sounds about right so far? I would need to convert them to 44.1 in AAC or another format because of my iPod. I don't know how to do that.
-
most likely the audio will be AC3...for conversion to most audio types...try LameXP...should accept that AC3 format and convert it to whatever you want...dead simple to use
You could also try TAudioConverter...it probably does the same thing
The Dvd Decrypter part is good advice...if their are no chapters when ripped with Decrypter...then you can can convert that AC3 with any of the 2 above mentions apps then use Mp3Directcut to slice it up to the tracks you want...Even XviD4PSP, an all in one video/audio conversion tool, can do the conversion for you. Great little app.
You can use PGCdemux to take the audio from those VOB files..then use one of the above apps to convert it. -
If the VOB files you have have an .ifo file in sthe same folder, open pgcdemux and navigate to the ifo file that corresponds with each VOB file...i.e....VTS_4_.ifo will be the 4th VOB file..when it sees it it will load up..uncheck all the boxes except...demux audio tracks...save it wherever and you'll have just the audio file

quick dvd decrypter tutorial for audio only stream processing
open Dvd Decrypter...click on Mode...choose File
On the Input tab...choose the file you wanna Demux...It will have the hrs/minutes...duration
Check the Enable Stream Processing box
Uncheck the video portion you don't want..leave the audio box checked
choose a folder you want to save the audio to
done
Take the VOB's and use PGCdemux to strip the audio from the ifo files.
Convert the audio with one of the above mentioned apps -
Great! Thank you so much! One question before I try your quick tutorial. How do I know what title and what file to DeMux? Would I select the longest duration in hrs/minutes?
-
Also check DVD Audio Extractor, can convert audio to WAV from DTS on fly, and more easy to use
its not free, but you can use it 30 days trial
its plenty of time to rip audio from DVD

You do realize you have to decrypt the movie first, right?
I don't understand why you are getting an error with everything if you decrypted first. -
-
Yeah, it is unlikely pgcdemux isn't working correctly, more than likely you are doing something that is causing the problem.
First step you need to use something like anydvd to rip to hard drive.
Make it rip as folder not iso.
Then find ifo with pgcdemux when you click on input ifo browse the folder.
Deselect everything except the audio file, set output folder where you want. -
What did you decrypt it with? Did you use something like AnyDVD and rip to HDD first or just the old DVD Decrypter like in Moontrash's screen captures? The old DVD Decrypter can't handle many newer protection methods. Its a great tool but it hasn't been updated for years.
Edit: Doh! Steve beat me to it! -
Concert DVDs are rarely heavily encrypted.
I just drop the audio-only VOB files from DVDDecrypter into GoldWave, then save as 44.1 wave.
Done
Goldwave can even accept VOB files that still contain video.
Never needed anything else. -
I used DVD Decrypter to rip like the screenshots above. What settings in AnyDVD am I selecting to rip just the audio tracks for the soundtrack?
-
After using DVD Decrypter and than use Goldwave, do I still use PGCdemux?
-
After using Goldwave, use dBPowerAmp to convert the WAV to AAC, and than use Mp3DirectCut to slice up the tracks, right?
-
Why do you insist on talking about slicing up the tracks when the original theme of this discussion was to use DVDDecrypter to give you individual tracks/chapters/songs in the first place?
