  1. Code:
    mplayer dvd://1 -dvd-device "f:\TestClips&Co\DVDs\ElephantsDream" -vo direct3d
    works fine, if I use:
    Code:
    mplayer -nosound dvd://1 -dvd-device "f:\TestClips&Co\DVDs\ElephantsDream" -vo direct3d
    I get:
MPEG: Missing video stream!? Contact the author, it may be a bug
    Same effect happens with mencoder if '-nosound' is used;

I reported this to the bug tracker a few days ago and just send an email to the mplayer users mailing list.
    (tested with "MPlayer SVN-r36824-4.8.2" and r36775 )

Does anyone by chance know which version is the last version which worked fine ?

  2. I have absolutely no clue about mplayer or mencoder.
    Code:
    mplayer dvd://1 -dvd-device "f:\TestClips&Co\DVDs\ElephantsDream" -vo direct3d
    works fine, if I use:
    Code:
    mplayer -nosound dvd://1 -dvd-device "f:\TestClips&Co\DVDs\ElephantsDream" -vo direct3d
    I get:
MPEG: Missing video stream!? Contact the author, it may be a bug
    Same effect happens with mencoder if '-nosound' is used;
May be mplayer/mencoder author do not like "mplayer dvd://1 ... ... ... " any more and "mplayer dvd://1 ... ... ... " might be a dropped option in recent versions. That is why error message asked you to contact author.

As you said that you have already reported this to the bug tracker, but, I would rather suggest an add feature request. If they do not provide the support in a same manners as yours, and your request remains un-heard, you may also decide to drop mplayer / mencoder completely.

And, finally I am happy that I have got you! You need to join gym to build Hybrid muscles like John Cena.
Last time I got you, you were jogging/running behind cute German girls. You missed to say at least "Hi".

  3. I doubt that the dvd://..-syntax got dropped, otherwise the help output would probably not mention it,..

  4. As I know MPlayer+Mencoder pre-compiled binaries are stopped, long long back. Anyway...
    have you tried

    mplayer dvd://1 -dvd-device "f:\TestClips&Co\DVDs\ElephantsDream" -vo direct3d -ao null
    may work for you.

Have you integrated mplayer to play and seek videos in Hybrid?

  5. mplayer dvd://1 -dvd-device "f:\TestClips&Co\DVDs\ElephantsDream" -vo direct3d -ao null

yes, that works for mplayer, but not for mencoder, also this would still slow down things, since audio processing isn't disabled the audio output is simply ignored.

Have you integrated mplayer to play and seek videos in Hybrid?
    yes

  6. As a workaround: using '--demuxer lavf dvdnav://' instead of 'dvd://' seems to work so far.

  7. As you asked " MPlayer last working version?"
I am asking you "Why? Does the last one not working?

As a workaround: using '--demuxer lavf dvdnav://' instead of 'dvd://' seems to work so far.
i knew it... i knew it... that there is no other genius in whole world.
Did you join the GyM yet?

no clue which the last normal working version is,...

Reported the problem to the mailinglist and the bug tracker, visited #mplayer over at freenode and mencoder seems kind of abandoned and seems only to get patches for major problems and decoding a dvd without audio doesn't seem to be one. ( btw. thanks to 'Lobs' for helping in finding the '--demuxer lavf dvdnav://' workaround)

  9. Lobs owe you "Weihenstephaner Hefeweissbier". I thought you are genius!

Sometimes you have to believe me, as I said...

Personally, I would not care much or at all, which one works and which does not. But your case is truly Hybrid.
