    Warning: I am very un-knowledgeable.

When you compress with video.net it appears the resulting subtitles are in "apple text". I can't display these with VLC, WMP. or DivX players.

Is it possible to set video.net to produce subtitles which can be read by one of these?

What is your source? Can't you attach a separate file with the subs like video.avi/mp4 etc and video.srt.

Or use something else and to burn in subtitles like xvid4psp, freemake video converter, etc.

I seem to be able to overcome my problems by using Handbrake.

Yes, I'm as amazed as you are. I suppose the lesson is: Just try ANYTHING, no matter how unlikely or unreasonable.
