I tried the append option but it was very slow so I aborted it. (reqd time shown 20 minutes).
Thanks for the tip.

What options did you use to save the joined files? You do realize, of course, that the new file has to be recompressed and copied in its entirety to a new location. What were your compression options? What kind and size of videos were you joining?

In my VDub 1.9.11, I used :
File >> Append AVI Segment. I used default options (didn't change any settings).
I opened the 1st video and then, after choosing 'append avi segment', I chose the 2nd video.
The size of videos I was joining are : 1st file 50MB, 2nd file 170 MB.
Both were themselves first edited in Avidemux. Both are avi files. -
If you used "default" options, the new video was fully decoded and converted to RGB32, then copied out as a larger RGB file than the files you started with. The default with VirtualDub is "Full processing mode". Use "direct stream copy".
"AVI" doesn't mean anything; it's a container that can accommodate videos that use many different codecs.Last edited by sanlyn; 19th Mar 2014 at 08:22.

Yes, sorry I forgot to use Direct Stream Copy.
Now that I used it, the file was saved in seconds.
I really love this great option, Direct Stream Copy!!
Thanks so much for the tip.
