    Hello

Can you tell me does it make any difference if you use a £4.00 S-VIDEO Cable or a £45.00 one, to capture VHS footage, I have a £4.00 one at the moment (VCR to Camcorder) but was thinking of buying a Belkin Svideo Cable Gold plated for £45.00 if it makes any difference Thanks

Short answer accepted by the vast majority of our members - No.

    Long answers -
If the cheap cable is a POS it may make a difference.
A small but very vocal minority of our users are convinced that it most certainly does make a difference and they will go to their graves swearing that they have conclusive proof of it. Expect to have a few of them post in here, some possibly with book length replies supporting their claims.

Ultimately you'll have to make up your mind on this. But my personal experience is that cheaper cables from reputable sellers are what you need to use and paying more for "better" just wastes your money.

Just ensure that your current cable isn't giving you any Y/C crosstalk.

Just to give another opinion ...... I agree with jman98.

If you want to buy another cable, stay with the low priced ones from a good source.

  7. There was another thread a long time ago wherein was posted numerous test screen captures, color bars, etc., etc., there was little to no advantage for the more expensive cables.

I once bought a "hi-speed" phone cable, for laughs more than anything else.
