Recommend a compatible DVD player comprable to JVC XV-523?

As you can tell from the topic, I need a more compatible DVD player. I've got a JVC XV-523, and I was planning on selling that in order to get somthing more compatible.

It doesnt need to be able to play MP3s and all that crap, but I need something very compatible with burned VCDs, SVCDs, and XVCDs. And as good picture quality as the JVC would be sweet, too.

Any suggestions?

BTW - I also wondered if anyone had any input between the Apex AD-1500 and the AD-3201. Whats the difference?

Go for a Panasonic RP91,
it can play even DVD-RAM disks.
