I have some .aiff recordings from my iphone that i want to convert to another format in order to use as ringtones for my nokia phone. I think supported formats may be .mp3, .wav and .aac. Whats the best formats to use with the least distortion upon output?

On a phone I doubt you would hear the difference between any of the formats at 192 kb/s or greater. try them all and see what you like.

Ok but since its going to be lossless after all i decided to trim it. What software can i use for .aiff? I tried audacity, but it plays with distorition, and i tried goldwave but it says only mono or stereo files are supported. As far as i know, it is stereo.

If you recorded audio with your iPhone it's not stereo(unless it's an iPhone 5).

its an iphone 3gs. You mean its not mono? It should still be supported, its multchannel that goldwave cant handle.
