  1. I recently went to open a .tivo file I have on my pc and video redo says that it is not an .mpeg stream and it won't open. I recently uninstalled tivo desktop from my computer. Does that have anything to do with my problem. Does video redo need my tivo's media access key?

I suspect you've answered your own question.

I believe VideoReDo needs Tivo Desktop installed, and a valid media access key, to work.
