I am trying to capture some old VHS tapes to AVI for editing etc.
I have finall managed to get my TV Card working with VirtualDub but now when watching the Video Preview the FPS drops to 12 / 13 FPS and it is very shuddery.
When I capture the Video I have again noticed that the FPS is very low and in the bottom left bar of the VDub shows up to 17ms of Jitter.
Sometimes the display is OK by seems to freeze frame every second.
Any idea what is causing this and how do I correct it.
Athlon 64x2 Dual Core 4000+
2GB DDR Ram
Windows XP Pro 2002 SP2
Pinnacle Studio PCTVRave
The video on the TV that it is playing back through is crystal clear.

huffyuv you should capture to YUY2 AVI, which will be easier to use with other software than UT. "AVI" is a container that can support many video formats. Using huffyuv or Lagarith you'll be capturing unencoded lossless video (which is preferred for VHS).
I don't think anyone here would recommend Pinnacle for anything. Period. But if that's all you have to work with, so be it.Our inventions are wont to be pretty toys, which distract our attention from serious things. They are but improved means to an unimproved end. -- Henry David Thoreau
