I´m on my way to finish my first DVD with Encore.
Up to now I worked with a 1024x576 Quicktimemovie (my requirement for a data disk). now I have to get that on a DVD, wich can be played on any (european) DVD Player. Well, so far I found out, that quicktime won´t work. But mpeg4 doesn´t seam to work out on 1024x567. I´ve totally got lost in all these format tangle.
Could someone help me, and tell me wich resolution, aspect ratio and Codec I can use?

You're not supposed to dual post, so expect a moderator to close one of your threads. Probably this one since I actually posted in it (mods love to close threads I post in).
Are you using a Mac? If so, please let us know. We'll need to get you moved over to the Mac forum in that case.
When you say quicktime won't work, do you mean you can't import it into Encore or just that it doesn't create a legal DVD?
if you can import it, just let Encore do its thing normally, it will sort through the the "format tangle." Just be sure you set it up as a 16:9 project.

Any dvd software you use will have pal or ntsc settings (ntsc is for North America and Japan).
I've never used Encore so I can't comment specifically on that software. But simply put once you have the dvd the way you want it the program should have some kind of wizard layout to let you select the dvd format (pal/ntsc, you want pal) and the bitrate and such for the dvd - bitrate is how good the video will look (still standard definition remember - your video is not standard definition it will be resized hence a bit of a loss quality). You will need it to be 720x576 for pal video.
Edit - I just noticed smrpx's post - if it is widescreen indeed you will need to set it to 16:9 output so it won't be squashed or squished in anyway. If it is actually 4:3 full screen than you'll need to tell it 4:3. though there may be an auto detection in encore, as i mentioned I can't comment specifically on that program, but I've used a few other dvd programs in my time.Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw?
