Are there any stand-alone mediaplayers that support DVB subtitles / Teletext subtitles or text subtitles that include colour information ?
I sometimes wish to watch my TV recordings on another location.
The TV there has SCART RGB, Svideo and composite inputs, so no HDMI.
My recordings are often from foreign TV stations, such as the BBC or TVEi.
Those recordings (MPEG2 TS or H.264 TS format) have DVB and/or teletext subtitles contained within them.
These use separate colours to differentiate the different speakers.
I also can extract the teletext subtitles into colour .SRT subtitles.
On my PC I can play back these recordings and the correct colours are shown.
I tested a WDTV live from a colleage, and it did not show teletext subtitles, nor did it show teletext subtitles.
With the teletext subtitled extracted with Clumpco 's tool, the WDTV Live plays back the SRT file, but they are all white on black (or a different colour combination I can choose).
It has a composite output, so at least it will play fine on that other TV.
Does anyone know whether other players are the same in terms of subtitle support ?

A subtitle would look like this in the SRT file.
On PC with Mediaplayer Classic or VLC it plays back fine, showing different colours as inserted into the SRT file.
Try StreamFab Downloader and download from Netflix, Amazon, Youtube! Or Try DVDFab and copy Blu-rays! or rip iTunes movies!

My personal opinion: WDTV is hyped crap.
Just choose another brand.
I also love those subs from the BBC.
In case you cannot find such an "mediaplayer, build your own by using an RaspberryPi.*** Now that you have read me, do some other things. ***
