So I spent ages on editing a video and saved it, but I've gone to open it the next day and it won't work? The file begins to open, but then at 10% it stops and says and error occurred during this current operation? And then it has this as the details...

I would really appreciate if someone could help me fix it, as I've turned my computer on and off again quite a few times but it's made no difference to opening the Vegas Project.

    Not in the real world.

That's a six year old version though (current is 12). Are you running an old enough computer to be completely compatible? Have you sent the error report to Sony?

The crash is in the mainconcept mp4 import plugin. You need to upgrade to 8.0c at least , or preferably something newer.

There were a lot of bug fixes in 8.0c release, and specifically fixed some MP4 import issues

Ok, so I've updated it, but now it wont open any of my vegas files...and instead just comes up with this:

The COM object failed to initialize
    ...can anyone help with that?

wasn't vegas pro 8.1 the last of the 8 series? you might try completely uninstalling 8 and installing 8.1

  10. Yes, there was 8.1 version, but I'm not sure it it was 64bit only. Those 64 bit versions were introduced at that time. 8.0c is 32bit.

i went and looked it up. 8.1 could be used for 32 or 64bit os.

    Notable fixes/changes in version 8.1
    • Added support for running under 64-bit editions of Windows Vista™
    • Support for addressing greater than 4 GB RAM for improved memory management..
    • Improved support for multicore processors: Vegas 8.1 can now use more than 4 video rendering threads.
    • You can open Vegas 8.1 projects in Vegas 8.0c and vice-versa.
