  1. This radio station mp3 audio stream is 256kb/sec:

However, when using 2 different softwares, Streamripper32 and the newer Stationripper, each on the top of the hour, when there are a few advertisements, the hour's worth of capture gets automatically deleted (overwritten). I like these softwares because they use very little cpu, (about 3%), even less than the Windows Task Manager uses.
My question is: is there a simple free low cpu usage software that can rip the 256kb/sec stream and not lose the accumulated capture on the hour? I tried StreamHijacker and it seems to work, but uses about 8 times more cpu power (about 24% instead of 3%). I am also concerned that StreamHijacker might be doing some kind of unwanted audio processing (based on the much higher cpu usage).

  3. I've used TotalRecorder quite a bit.
    Non-answer
    Reason:
    1) Total Recorder is not free
    2) Total Recorder is not a ripper, it is a sound card recorder
    Fortunately I found the answer.
    Castripper:

    or
    http://www.fileden.com/files/2006/11/30/441298/CastRipper.rar
Rips the 256kb/sec stream, does not overwrite (delete) the stream at the top of the hour, and uses less than 3% cpu.
    Problem solved.
