I've been making DVDs for several years, and have a nice workflow from Avisynth to HCEnc and GfD.

Now I've got a TV that can directly support MKV, so I'm looking to produce those.

I would like to keep using Avisynth scripts as my source, as if I'm going to reencode a video I like to tweak the filters.

    What options are there?

  3. XviD4PSP also allows you to open AviSynth scripts and make MKVs with all kinds of different audio and video inside. There are a number of different presets or you can do custom encodes.

Just an FYI.. Freemake is free.. for a $5 donation I got full version that Automatically crops out black borders plus more.... best deal for a working converter.... coverts well (if a bit slow) to nearly all formats
Still having problems with AVS with VOB, but seems to work well with other formats.... also has a better effects editor than free-make.. but I still use my Nero for these... but found the free open source "DVDStyler" to be easier to created menus than NERO.
