I have experienced random system freeze/crashes while playing hard drive DVD files. Sometimes an entire video can be viewed with no problem - other times one or more freeze ups may occur during a video. Usually, the system freezes with a staccato audio sound and is completely unresponsive and must be reset. Rarely, the freeze can result in either a blue screen (some message to the effect a secondary processor did not receive an interrupt within the time frame) or the player can be closed and restarted without resetting the system. There is no problem with the data or file - the restarted video plays through the freeze point with no problem. The problem occurs on both WMP and Cyberlink Power DVD players. What can possibly be wrong?

    Active@ Hard Disk Monitor

Try it and see what the health status of the hd is ... if it's dropping below 80% you need to replace it soon.

Blow the system case and fans clean just in-case it hasn't been done in a while

While inside the case pull memory modules out and use an eraser to rub the contacts and slots ... this might be the problem if memory modules are not a perfect match for cpu in use ... rare but dose pop up in forums

Run tests on gpu and cpu to make sure their running at correct temps.

    If no improvement then

Change the default decoders to AC3Filter for audio and GPL MPEG2 Decoder or Stinkys Mpeg2 Codec for video
