I’ve been racking my brains past week to mux a subtitle with ffmpeg. I’ve used code –scodec /-map, but I only get a video with audio. I’ve also tried numerous attempts to use video filter, -vf, by enabling libass but no avail. I’m using Win 7 system not Linux and I did setup fonts.conf file path in environmental variable.
If anyone has been successful in using ffmpeg in Windows for subtitling, I would appreciate any guidance. I have successfully used other types of subtitling with avisynth and other gui’s, if someone going to suggest alternative methods.

    And no error messages?

Maybe you could try some frontend that uses ffmpeg like tencoder, add a test clip, choose ffmpeg encoder, add subtitles, encode and last check the log to see how the commands looks like. If it now uses ffmpeg for subtitles and shows the complete command in the log...
