  1. i have been using aimersoft video converter to convert mkv files to xvid files that will play on my dvd player.
the problem is that the resulting xvid file will sometimes be very jerky.
does anyone know the best resolution, frame rate and bit rate settings to use to convert mkv files.

Use same frame rate as the mkv source(identify with mediainfo if not aimersoft shows it), max around 720x576 pixels, don't too high video bitrate(1-2Mbit/s).

Or try another mkv to avi xvid converter like xvid4psp 5(use the avi hardware preset), winff, xmedia recode or the simple freemake video converter.
