  1. I have a problem with audio being out of sync with MPEG 2 files. It starts out being in sync at first, but then it gets progressively worse over time. Do you know of any tools to match the sound with the picture?

Upon signing up, I been browsing some threads here. I weren't sure it'll solve my issue as the thread starter had a slightly different problem then I. Have a look.

The only logical way I know of is to change the playback rate of the audio manually. I use Reaper (an OLD version since it is no longer free) but it's not going to be easy or fun since you are not "replacing" one audio for another and you have nothing to compare your new audio to.
IE....I replace audio in music videos all of the time in both PAL and NTSC sourced material and often times the CD audio playback rate does not match the video's audio playback rate.....so I put the two side by side(so to speak) in Reaper and match the playback rates by ear and by watching the waveforms for tell-tale distinguishable changes/noises/stop-starts....but you cannot do that in this case.
Plus your span is over an hour....that is going to make it even more difficult. I usually only need to match a 4 to 5 minute span.
Long story short....you won't find a simple one-button "fix this for me" software that is going to work.

I have seen VideoRedo solve audio sync problems in mpeg2 files using the QuickStream Fix tool. With progressively out of sync audio, it is a long shot however.

There is a free, fully functional trial for VideoReDo if you want to try it.

Trials of software vary somewhat in what is required of you. Some companies want you to register with them and provide contact information before providing you a download link to a trial. This is not, in my opinion, an entirely free type of trial.

A more typical scenario is an openly available link to the trial, which is limited primarily by the time in which it will work. Some software is also limited in functionality during the trial period.

The trial for VideoReDo is limited only in the amount of time in which it will work. The primary purpose of such a trial is to allow the potential customer to use the software, become accustomed to its controls and determine if it will suit their purposes.

In this particular situation, I have recommended the VideoReDo trial to TheShortStaw since it has a tool which might help his situation, and using the program for this purpose will cost only the time it takes to download the program and run it.

I hope this has cleared up your confusion Bjs.
