    Hi!
Perhaps someone knows if this is possible. I have a Philips DVDR 3570H that I would like to try to connect the harddrive to my pc to recover data from it. (I have a USB/IDE adapter.) After I used split on some of the recordings, it suddenly reported that harddrive was empty. I am pretty sure that it is not empty, cause it didnt't "work" long and I did not press format or delete, and I read that this is something that can happen to this recorder if you split a long recording to many times (which is what I did). I have not recorded anything since that, I'm afraid I would spoil my chances then.
Now, if I connect it to the PC, I expect that I need some software or some tricks to be able to save the recordings.
Anyone knows of anything? Think it's even worth the try?

Take a look at this topic

    https://forum.videohelp.com/threads/353769-Connecting-a-PVR-drive-to-a-PC

At the end there is a link to a software driver that may allow you to access that drive by a PC - without a driver then no chance.

Then, you will need file recovery software since I would imagine that the hdd is corrupted. There are various ones and a search of these forums will give you many choices. The one I have used successfully on 'empty' drives is called ZAR. The problem here is that your drive will not be formatted for NTFS so these recovery problems will probably not work.

Thanks so much for the tip! I will try it, and if I succed I will report back here. Think a lot of others have or will have the same problem some time. I can live without the dvd but the content on it are more important.

If its's a Linux file system, and if your files are not encrypted ...

    Freeware Linux Reader for Windows:

  5. Hi!

In my adventure to copy DVD clips from my Samsung DVD-HR770 Harddisk Recorder to a pc, I finally got a breakthrough!
Although this is a very old thread, I just wanted to let you guys know that I succeeded with the Disk Internals Linux reader (http://www.diskinternals.com/linux-reader)

First I removed the harddisk from the recorder and connected it via an IDE/SATA-USB adapter to the PC. The Linux reader was then able to extract the data and copied it to my harddisk.

The adapter I used was the Ewent EW7016 (http://www.ewent-online.com/ewent-ew7016-ewent-em7016-usb-3-0-to-ide-sata-converter.html)

    Cheers!
    Steven

Steef82, Do not post the same topic on several forums.
Please do not cross post, once is enough.
