Is there any existing search engine that allows you to avoid video streaming sites? Yahoo's video searching options ignore your request to only search for certain kinds of media.

I do use the terms for physical media in my search when appropriate. But what about strictly digital content?

    now you have confused me
you state your trying to avoid 'streaming'
then mention you want to search for digital

well 99.9% of available digital media IS STREAMING

if you want digital downloads you are either talking about paid/buy like amazon
    or free public youtube etc..

    except for 'torrents' and 'warez'
i know no way to search for free digital downloads

I am searching for remaining .mpeg .wmv .mov and .avi that are posted on people's websites. Not torrents and warez.

Well you could try using the "-" restriction and use it like -vudu -amazon -itunes to not include those sites in your searches.

Though I don't know if that works on all search engines. Basically use any code that will remove a word from your search to restrict the search.

The problem is that there are numerous video streaming sites to disclude. I guess it is no longer possible to Alta Vista style search for videos anymore.

    again in 99.9% OR MORE
those videos are stored on a hosting site (for streaming), not the personal website server for DL storage
