  1. I already re-saved the file using mkvmerge but the result is still the same. When MPC tries to open it it stays at time 0, but VLC plays just fine. VLC says the codec is DTS 5.1, but I have numerous mkv files with this format that plays without issue. How do I fix this?

  3. Interesting, I do have two versions of MPC-HC on my system, and the one I was using by default couldn't play it, but the other version could. Ironically the one that works appears to be an older version.

    Working version:
    MPC-HC 64bit
    Version: 1.6.5.6366 (744df1c)
    MPC-HC Compiler: MSVC 2010 SP1
    FFmpeg Compiler: MinGW-w64 GCC 4.7.2

    Non-working version:
    MPC-HC (maybe 32bit?)
    Version: 1.6.7.6988 (18de1c0) (blitzkrieg) (master@6978)
    MPC-HC Compiler: MSVC 2010 SP1 (SSE)
FFmpeg Compiler: MinGW-w64 GCC 4.7.2 (SSE)

Also, what can be used to transcode the.dts file? It's definitely what's causing the problem because the video track alone plays fine in all players.

With a paid program or the OS I'll go to the trouble to troubleshoot or configure it. But with free software of which there are many alternatives to I'll tend to just try something else. Which is why I'd suggest using vlc if it works. I yanked mpc-hc ages ago. Just smplayer and vlc now.
