    Why am I not surprised?

This is easily the 8th or 10th "Easycap problem" thread I've encountered in just the last 3 months.

My recommendation: send it back and get a GOOD device instead.

The capture devices sold in the US as "EasyCaps" cost between $8 and $10 in 2011 from Amazon, while most other standard definition USB capture devices cost between $40 and $70. You got what you paid for, a low-quality product that doesn't last long.
