I'm shooting on a Sony Handycam that outputs MPG files for editing.
I'm editing in Sony Vegas (latest version).
My main timeline fades into a simple graphic. But after editing and rendering, the last second or two of video gets blown out when I play it back in a simple video player (VLC, Quicktime, Realplayer...all produce the same result). It's as if the video quality goes down significantly in those last frames.
Could this be due to the video quality? The camera outputs in MPG, and it's a 4.0 megapixel camera. My rendering settings are at "Internet HD 720p." I've done this before (with other cameras) and had no problem.
Any ideas?

Try disabling GPU acceleration - it's been known to cause garbage frames during rendering in vegas for many people

Thanks for that.
I've turned it off and restarted (per program notifications), but that didn't do anything. (Or fix anything, I should say). -
Can you clarify what is happening? Is it blowing out (to white) for a few frames ? or Post a screenshot or video sample to describe it better
Does it look ok in the preview before exporting? What happens if you try another codec or export format ? -
That's just it - It looks fine in preview, but it's just the last few frames that pixelate making the image blurry after rendering. I've used these settings before with no problem. But I suspect the quality of the video I'm getting to edit is the problem. The camera is a 4.0 Pixel Sony Handycam - relatively old.
What's even more odd is that I have the video fade into an image at the end, but the image comes out clean. It's just the last few frames of the video on the timeline. -
If the source video was the problem, you would expect to see pixellation in the preview . Make sure you examine at 100% . If there is macroblocking in the source, you can use some deblocking filters before rendering
To rule out compression issues during export, try bumping up the bitrate on your render settings. Also post the mediainfor report for that

I got a red screen on one project, so I opened the same media in a different version of Vegas, and no problemo.
So I made two screenshots as proof, and opened a ticket. A week later, after I didnt care anymore, they replied with a template response, directing me to update to the latest release. But I did have the latest release.
So its hard to nail them down. -
Yeah, the GPU acceleration is definitely off, and I've tried numerous settings for rendering and they all produce the same results. Because of that, I just think it's the video quality that I started with.
budwzr, I have no idea what you're saying. -
He's saying he updated his software.
Are you dissolving by crashing the clips together (overlapping the clips on the same track) or have you added an effect? Whichever you did, try the other. -
