I ran the DVD through DVD Shrink and then tried to use v8.6 of PGCedit to find all the warnings etc that I don't want. When I run PGC, it doesn't show me any of the unwanted sections. So I thought I'd try the old VOBrator program but that won't even run under Win XP SP3 for some reason.
PGCedit always worked fine for me in the past, but I haven't used it for a long time. I am using the TRACE feature to find things I want to remove or not appear, but it's not working. Other times i have used it, it would stop and play the various warnings so I could see and choose not to use them.
PGCdit did make a backup of the video but it seems that's all it did.
Any thoughts as to where or what I am doing wrong? My version of PGC is right before it was updated and changed to a pay program. Maybe I need the new one?
Other programs I have are: VOBedit, IFOedit,Be Light and Be Sweet.
Thanks to all,

DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter aren't recommending for ripping. If the DVD uses any of the new "bad sector" type protection mechanisms (usually found on Sony and Disney DVDs, but not limited to only them), you'll have backup issues. Perhaps you should try another ripper and then use PgcEdit.
I bought AnyDVD and it's unclear to me if any free rippers are any good. DVDFab used to make one, but apparently the free version is either not available beyond a trial period or so complicated to find that many can't find it. I don't really trust anything but DVDFab or AnyDVD any more unless I know for sure it doesn't use bad sector copy protection, in which case I'll use DVD Decrypter.
VOBBlanker might help you to get rid of unwanted sections. but you have to find them via some other tool first.
I believe that DVD Shrink can be used in co-operation with either DVD43 or anyDVD. That way you can use DVD Shrink on many of the newer DVD's too.
Another option is to rip the DVD first with anyDVD, and then use DVD Shrink on the DVD while it is on the harddrive. This way you can pick out the main movie with DVD Shrink after all

I will look into ANYdvd and see if that fixes my troubles. I don't want just the movie I want everything but the warning messages. I like to have all the menus/chapters and extra stuff
Thanks to ALL who replied!!
I figured that maybe the newer DVD's were the problem along with older software.
