A review on the Sony DSR200 included " the Widescreen/16x9 mode works better than expected."
For the life of me I can't figure out how to switch my Sony DSR200 to widescreen? Even my manual doesn't explain how to do it. Were there some DSR200s models that did not have this feature? Please advise, thank you very, very much.

Research says there's a setting in the menu and that it's anamorphic (basically stretched) 16:9. Perhaps ask/research more at www.camcorderinfo.com

**Unfortunately that website has no forum and they just sell camcorders. The so-called "experts" there have never even heard of the Sony DSR200.
Hopefully a camcorder expert will be able to answer my original question.

I remember researching this when this post first appeared and I recall Sony's version of "widescreen" for this unit was one of those screw-on lens adapter things.

i don't think that series was widescreen capable until the next model dsr250

i'd be willing to wager it's referring to a normal wide-angle screw on teleconverter like a 28mm lens.

How much would you wager?
Although I appreciate all those that attempted to solve this problem, it was my own research that solved the problem.
I own a Sony DSR 200 that does not have the 16x9 widescreen option, but the Sony DSR 200A does.

Just an FYI, you never said DSR 200A in your original 2 posts, you said DSR 200, evidently there is/must be a difference.
Just saying......
Exact or specific details/model numbers can make a BIG difference.

That's the whole point! I did not know that there was a 200A and nobody on this forum knew that either. Now we all do.

You came here insisting that your Sony DSR200 was genuine widescreen capable, suggesting that this capability was hidden in a menu option that you could not find. Two people here told you(via a simple Google search by the way) that they found no information saying it was widescreen capable.
Your purchase. Your assumptions. Your mistake.
