    I got the feeling the deinterlacing part will be a challenge

    Thanks for your inputs

    wtf? there isn't even enough bitrate to watch without throwing up. it's progressive by the way and garbage. deleted.

    I've seen this one before. It's not interlaced. Appears to have been some sort of film-based+telecine originally, then idiotically field-blend deinterlaced (using the wrong field priority, to boot), or some such creatively destructive technique, and royally messed up with a bitrate so low it's unviewable.

    BTW, it's not "low res". It's "low bitrate". Really low. A bone fide video kamikaze at work.

    I got 20 fps out of this disaster. Maybe there's a way to restore the original frame rate, but lord knows what it was. For what it's worth, which isn't much:

    Code:
    AssumeTFF().TFM().TDecimate()
    QTGMC(preset="fast")  # <- probably useless, but...well, why not?
    Vinverse()
    SelectEven()

    Unfortunately the method shown in my script really whacks out audio sync., but the more I looked at it the more weird its visual structure became. There are telecined frames, then duplicate frames, all of it apparently intended to deinterlace something that didn't need deinterlacing, and to bring the frame rate to 29.97. Have no idea how many bad steps were taken here.

    There are plenty of other copies on YouTube - all poor, but some are better in some respects.

    Any ideas for the denoising part ? I've tried a couple of tricks of my own recipe but i can't say i'm satisfied. What about despot i've never used it before and read good things about it
