  1. Guys,

I have a Hitachi Handycam Model - DZ-MV550E and I recorded some home videos on a Moser Baer mini-DVD. I was also able to finalize the DVD.

Now I bought a Sony DVD-RW (1.4 GB, 1x-2x, 30 min), but when I put it into the camcorder to record something, it throws up the following error message.

Error Code 2881. Please check the manual.

The manual says dirt on the DVD can cause this error. But actually the Moser Baer disk looked more dirtier. And it worked fine.

I want to know if I can use a Sony DVD-RW in a Hitachi Handycam? Is it a question of compatibility or is it really the dust?

If it is not a compatibility issue, may be I need to buy a new DVD and try.

Also does it matter to the camcorder if the mini-DVD is -R or +R ? Does it also matter if the DVD is RW or just R?

    Thanks.

I suspect your camera can't use a DVD-RW disk. If you google that error you will find that others have had that problem with other Hitachi cameras and the answer from the factory was "that camera can't use DVD-RW disks".

Thanks TreeTops. Yes, it can handle only DVD-R.

    I have ordered them.
