I used ffmpeg -ss to cut some xvid files. Now when playing the cutted files in VLC, it plays the audio normally but the video takes up to 10 seconds to be displayed (a blank screen appears instead). Besides, windows won't display the video thumbnail for the file.
It may be related to frame/keyframe. Is there a way to fix that?

Thread: mp4 cut issue (ffmpeg -ss)
Why the '-saf' option?
Have you tried a simple
mp4box -add old.mp4 new.mp4
If you're not fussed about the whole MP4 thing, remux them as MKVs while using MKVMergeGUI's splitting function. I'm pretty sure it always splits on the first keyframe it finds after the specified split point. If you only want to split the file rather than divide it into pieces, you might need to specify "2" as the maximum number of output files.
