Hi all, I recently bought a new TV.
I would like to connect my hard disk to my tv with normal usb I've already tried it .
En it works fine but on my tv usb input stands that it only supports 5v(0.5a) usb device's en my hard disk takes 12V(1.5a) but i don't realy have problem's yet it just takes a bit more time to read all the files on the hard disk . My question is whether I will get damage to my TV or hard disk ?

    Thanks in advance!

  2. So, your external hard drive has a 12V 1.5A power supply connected to it... There is no problem with that, this is the only way you can have a 3.5" hard drive work externally and no power flows back to the TV through the USB port.

If your hard disc needs 12V at 1.5A, I'm assuming it is powered from an external power supply and not from the 5V supply from the USB port. It won't harm either if that is the case.

A okay so that 5V stands for hard disc's with no external power if you got one with external power then you gonna have never trouble with that ?

Aren't those USB powered externals all notebook (2.5") drives? Anyway, yeah, you'll be fine with a powered 3.5" external. I use NTFS, MBR formatted 2 TB powered external drives with my LG 65LW6500 TV.
    Pull! Bang! Darn!
